It opens or closes the throttle valve in the carburetor.

For most engines, they want to run more fuel in the chamber. This closes the throttle to start the engine. Once the engine is warm, did not need much fuel, then open the gas.

Normally, the throttle as quickly as possible, want to leave open more air into the rooms of the throttle valve fuel such as waste permit closed.

Remove the lid of the air filter. When you start to pull the switch, you should open the throttle and close. Closing the hole covers in the carburetor. When they open, open the hole to allow air to flow through the carburetor.

So you want the throttle closed (lid to) cover the hole when the scooter. (It is easier to start and too). Once the engine is started, then open the gas in order to minimize the loss of fuel.

The choke restricts the flow of air into the carburetor, creating a vacuum in the carburetor or pull-up gas, if you are the British call gasoline. This is to assist the engine in the cold, because cold fuel does not evaporate as quickly and burn extent. You just have to choke a cold engine is turned off starts if the engine is warm enough to run without them. If you end up with the throttle very cold, too.
